KROMAS Liquid Polishing Non-Ferrous KC 472 EUR (KH25) (25Kg) [Kg]
The Kromas KC 472 is a specialized liquid polishing compound designed for mass surface finishing.
It is primarily formulated for treating non-ferrous metals (such as aluminum, brass, copper, and bronze) inside vibratory or centrifugal tumbling machines.
When added to a mass finishing system, KC 472 works through a combination of chemistry and mechanics:
1. Friction and Lubrication Control
Inside a tumbling bowl, parts and abrasive media (like plastic or ceramic shapes) are violently mixed together. If the environment is completely dry, the media would create intense friction, leading to scratches or excessive heat. KC 472 acts as a controlled lubricant, allowing the polishing media to smoothly slide across the metal surface at a microscopic level to shave away imperfections without gouging the metal.
2. Micro-Abrasive Enhancement
The liquid compound works in harmony with the tumbling media. It contains chemical agents that slightly soften oxides or surface impurities on the non-ferrous metal parts. This chemical action allows the polishing stones to efficiently "cut" or burnish the metal at a micron level, rapidly flattening surface roughness.
3. Continuous Cleaning and Flushing
As metal parts are deburred or polished, they shed microscopic metal dust and dirty residues. If this debris stays in the machine, it forms a dark sludge that coats the parts and ruins the finish. KC 472 contains surfactants that lift this dirt away from the metal surfaces and suspend it in the water, allowing it to be continuously flushed out of the machine's drainage system.
4. Brightening and Shine Development
Because it is formulated explicitly for non-ferrous metals, KC 472 prevents the surface cloudiness or darkening that can happen when using generic industrial soaps. Instead, it promotes a high-gloss, reflective, and bright finish on materials like brass or aluminum.
5. In-Process Corrosion Protection
Non-ferrous metals are highly prone to rapid oxidation (tarnishing) when exposed to air and water. KC 472 deposits a temporary chemical passivation layer over the parts during the cycle. This protects the freshly polished, raw metal from staining or corroding the moment it leaves the wet machine and goes to the drying phase.
